Brunch at A Hole in the Wall

If there’s one thing my friends and I love doing it’s going out for delicious eats! It’s our love language and it’s our favorite bonding time. We’re those girls at Brunch that order everything off of the menu! Life is short so, why not?!

Anyways, this past weekend we met up at Aussie cafe A Hole in Wall, in the Flatiron district of NYC. The food was colorful, flavorful, and exciting! Definitely a must try!

Hole in the Wall has various locations all over NYC so feel free to explore on their site!

Here’s what we ordered and my thoughts:

  • Avocado Toast: truffle feta, Pepitas, pink onions, cherry tomato, micro-herbs, and lime on sourdough toast

    • What we thought: this was a winner with one of my friends raving about how light it was and how great of a avo toast this was. Simple and delicious. You can’t beat that!

  • Wagon Wheel Waffles: vanilla whipped cream cheese, strawberry jam, torched marshmallow and Nutella sauce

    • What we thought: These waffles were soo soo good! I loved this because it wasn’t too sweet. The waffles were fluffy and together with the toppings and Nutella sauce on the bottom, it reminded me of a warm bagel with cream cheese and jelly but better! If you’re into sweets for breakfast/brunch, this is definitely your dish!

  • Pulled Pork Benedict: 12 hour slow braised pork, poached eggs, burnt butter hollandaise, beet relish on sourdough toast

    • What we thought: Ehh, this dish looked amazing on Yelp and so many yelpers raved about it. However, once we ordered it, it was a bit much. The shredded pork was heavily spread across the toast and together with the eggs and hollandaise, it was just a lot. We barely touched this dish.

  • Truffle Fries: string fries topped with truffle aioli, bits of truffle, and shaved parmesan

    • What we thought: Ehh! The fries alone were great but with all of the toppings, not so great. Definitely not the truffle fries that I’m used to. I think the aioli ruined these. IMO

  • Brekkie Roll: double smoked bacon, American cheese, scrambled eggs, hash brown, butter lettuce and verde mayo

    • What we thought: This was also a hit! I mean BEC is always the move! But this one had hash brown as an added bonus!

  • Chili Scrambled Eggs: buttery scramble, tomato kimchi salsa, Sambal emulsion, avocado, grated parmesan on sourdough toast

    • What we thought: Also great! Way better than the Shredded Pulled Pork Toast. This dish had lots of flavor and the presentation was perfection.

  • Side of Fried Chicken: fried boneless chicken thighs

    • What we thought: Do not order! The chicken was very bland and had no flavor. Definitely missing spices and some salt.
